Endorsements

If you work with companies or organizations to endorse their products and/or services, this is THE most important section for you on this site.

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regulates endorsements in an effort to protect consumers and promote competition.  BEFORE you enter into any endorsement deals, do your due diligence on the company or organization to ensure it is a brand with whom you want to associate yourself.  In addition, you MUST understand (and comply with) your endorsement obligations under the law.   One doesn’t have to look farther than the legal woes of Tom Brady and Steph Curry to learn what can happen if you don’t.  Click here to learn what your responsibilities are and how to stay compliant.

Key Points

Your endorsement must reflect your truthful experience with the product, service, or brand

You cannot say things about a product, service, or brand that require proof that you don’t have

You must CLEARLY disclose the connection you have with the company or organization in your endorsement
